Nine houses, known by name.
Saltmarsh is a small management company on scenic 30A. We keep nine houses in Seagrove, Grayton Beach and Blue Mountain Beach — few enough that every manager knows every floorboard.
Why we stay small
Most rental companies grow until the houses blur together — one call center, one cleaning checklist, one stock photo set. We went the other way. Nine houses is the number where one person can still hold the whole list in their head: which burner runs hot at Fiddler, which porch door sticks at Longleaf after rain, which week the lupine blooms behind Salt Cotton.
Every house gets one manager, and every guest gets that manager's cell number. Our cleaners work from a list written per house, not per company. Our photographers shoot every room, every year — if a room isn't pictured, it isn't rented.
We take on a few new houses a year, only on this fifteen-minute stretch, and only houses we'd stay in ourselves. That's the whole business plan.
