The house

Longleaf sits in a grove of old pines on a sandy Grayton lane, all wood siding and deep eaves. The three bedrooms sleep six — a king primary, a queen room, and a bunk room the kids will fight over — and the living room's wood stove makes it the rare 30A house that shines in February too.

The kitchen skips the dishwasher by design (the listing says so, and regulars swear the evenings washing up together are part of it) but wants for nothing else. Out back, a fire pit and six beach cruisers turn the five-minute ride to the state park beach into the day's main event.

Grayton's shops and the Red Bar are a ten-minute pedal away — close enough for dinner, far enough that the nights stay quiet.

From the guest book

“No dishwasher, just as the listing warned, and we didn't miss it. Rain on the tin roof is the best sleep I've had in years.”

Chris, Memphis, TN · September 2026

“The bikes made the trip. We rode to the state park every morning and never once thought about the car.”

Good to know

Is there really no dishwasher?

Correct — the 1950s kitchen keeps its original footprint, and a dishwasher won't fit without gutting it. We provide two dish racks, great soap, and a drying mat. Most guests report it as a feature, not a bug.

How do the bikes work?

Six cruisers with locks live under the house, serviced every spring. Tell us heights and kids' ages before arrival and we'll swap sizes and add a tagalong or trailer.

Is the wood stove usable?

October through March, yes — swept annually, with a starter bundle of fatwood included. Extra bundles are $12, on your honor at the general store down the lane.
